Supporting children, parents, and adults through challenges, transitions, and growth
I bring warmth, compassion, and a deeply practical understanding of children and families to my work as a therapist. With more than a decade of experience working directly with elementary-aged children and 15 years of experience advocating for students and families, I understand that what happens at school, at home, and within a family are often closely connected.
I especially enjoy working with children and parents, including families navigating school concerns, emotional or behavioral challenges, life transitions, and the complexities of supporting a child with additional needs. My extensive knowledge of school systems allows me to help parents better understand available supports, communicate with schools, and feel less overwhelmed by the process.
I also work with adults experiencing grief, loss, transition, or periods of feeling stuck. I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to build a life that feels meaningful and fulfilling. Rather than assuming there is one right path forward, I start with where each person is and work alongside them to identify what they need, what is already working, and what might help them move forward.
My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and strengths-based. I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), while also considering the larger family, school, relationship, and community systems that shape a person’s experience. I strive to create space for reflection and growth while helping clients develop practical tools they can use outside of therapy.
Experience That Goes Beyond the Therapy Room
Before becoming a therapist, I spent more than 10 years working with children with special needs as a paraprofessional and many years advocating for students and their families. My professional background also includes school social work, case management, and individual therapy.
This varied experience gives me a particularly grounded perspective: I understand that families often need more than someone who will listen. They may also need help making sense of a school system, identifying resources, advocating for their child, or figuring out what comes next.
I earned my Master of Social Work from Wayne State University and hold a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Syracuse University.
Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy reading, traveling, spending time with my three children, and life with my mini Goldendoodle, Chester.
